Unfortunately, many Christians and non-Christians are in the same boat. They quote "the Bible" based on hearsay. The Good Book says. . ."
Sometimes their words are true.
Sometimes skewed.
And then there are the intentionally false platitudes.
I have no desire to discredit the theologians of the past or the God-inspired teachers of today—but why read their words when you can read God's?
I'm not suggesting you should never read Bible commentaries, just that you should read God's word first so you can evaluate another's interpretation. Like you, they are human and not infallible.
